History

Diebel was the director of CSU's Keyboard Division who dedicated nearly 50 years of his life to teaching. His music will continue through the countless students that he influenced. Diebel did more than teach. He wrote more than 25 compositions, released two recordings and performed in such places as New York's Carnegie Hall. In a 1994 interview, Diebel made it clear that his students were his most important accomplishment. "I teach the individual to do what I believe the individual is capable of doing," he said. "The high point of my career is seeing and witnessing the success of my students not only in music, but also in other fields." Diebel's teaching went beyond the university setting. He was involved at St. Paul's Episcopal Church as both an organist and a choir director.
