History

Linda Brooks Cates arrived on the Colorado State University campus in the fall of 1967, a 21 year old junior, married, with an 18 month old baby to support. The Communication Studies department, formerly Speech department, immediately became a source of intellectual stimulation and a pseudo-family for Linda. The Speech department and faculty nurtured Linda and helped her become a high school speech teacher. Linda wishes to help other young parents who might need financial aid during their college years, in order to better their circumstances and those of their children, to live a successful, meaningful life.
