Bio
Mr. Stroman earned a B.M and a M.M. in Percussion Performance from Colorado State University where he studied with Dr. Eric Hollenbeck. He is a licensed teacher in the state of Colorado and currently serves as the Colorado Chapter President of the Percussive Arts Society (PAS).
Mr. Stroman has appeared with the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra, the Fort Collins Symphony and the Cheyenne Symphony. He is also an in demand performer in the Northern Colorado region performing on drumset, vibraphone and bass guitar in a variety of musical styles. He has performed or appeared with: Art Lande, Don Aliquo, Anders Astrand, Peter Sommer, the Yellowjackets, Nancy Wilson, Amy Grant, The Four Tops, Mark Sloniker, Erik Applegate and Trisha Yearwood. In January of 2006, he commissioned and performed the world premiere of Sticks and Stones variations for drumset and wind ensemble by Jim Bonney. In 2008, he founded Square Peg, a contemporary jazz quartet.
As an educator, Mr. Stroman is an adjunct instructor of percussion at Colorado State University where he teaches drumset and Jazz vibraphone as well as assists with all percussion activities. He is the director of percussion at Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins, Colorado, the front ensemble instructor for Longmont High School in Longmont, Colorado as well as arranger and consultant for Conifer High School and Windsor High
School. Previous to these positions he was the director of the jazz and percussion programs at Mountain View High School in Loveland, Colorado. His percussion and jazz ensembles have received consistent superior ratings at festivals. Under his private instruction, his students have been selected to numerous All State and Regional Honor Ensembles and many have gone on to become successful music majors in college. Mr.
Stroman is also a staff member of the Rocky Mountain Summer Music Camp. As an in demand clinician Mr. Stroman has presented clinics at the University of Northern Colorado, Colorado State University, Colorado PAS Day of Percussion, Colorado Music Educators Convention, Colorado Bandmasters Convention, Wyoming PAS Day of Percussion and the Montana AA Band Festival. Many high schools and middle schools have also benefited from Mr. Stroman’s clinics. Mountain View High
School staff gained and expanded their knowledge by attending a clinic on integrating music into the core curriculum.
Mr. Stroman is an educational endorser for the Pro-Mark Drumstick Corporation, Sabian Cymbals and Pearl/Adams Corporation.
