Bio

Peter Hall,Affiliate Professor of Sociology,came to CSU in 2009 from the University of Missouri where he was Professor Emeritus of Sociology and Education.He currently enjoys the collegiality of an active,stimulating scholarly community and the surrounding wonderful natural environment. Hall has published extensively in areas of symbolic interaction and social organization;power,politics,and public policy; and educational reform and social inequality. He has received funding from NSF, NIE,and the Spencer and Danforth Foundations. While at Missouri,Hall initiated a Life Science and Society Symposium, co-organized Education and Social Inequality Symposia,and led departmental seminars on  Social Policy and the Welfare State;Class,Race, and Gender Inequality; and Erving Goffman. Peter Hall is a charter member of the Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction and has received its G.H. Mead Award for career contributions in 1994.He has also been President of the Midwest Sociological Society. A lecture series in his name at its annual meetings was started in 2003. Hall has been active in educational reform activities at the local,state,and national levels with emphases on restructuring,diversity,and teacher policies. His current projects are a co-edited book on Meta-power with Tom R. Burns(Uppsala University,Sweden) and a memoir on his youth.
