She is also the Associate Director of the LEAP (Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Arts Advocacy, and the Public) Institute for the Arts, which collaborates with the Department of Music, Theater and Dance, the Department of Art and Art History, the College of Business and the Department of Economics to offer curriculum that is designed to help CSU arts students survive in the 21st century job market, discover new job opportunities, become career arts advocates and create a playground for new ideas. This curriculum will prepare LEAP students for all aspects of business and finance inherent in the arts profession and for creative jobs in companies outside the arts.

She placed first in the graduate student division in the 2007 regional NATS competition and has received awards for performance excellence from CSU.
In addition to her performance experience, Katie currently volunteers as the Vice President of the Beet Street board and a member of the Fort Collins Chamber Music Society board.
