Bio

Emily Thorn holds a BA in biology from Wheaton College (IL), an MSc in Environmental Science from Montana, and is currently earning her doctorate in environmental sociology at Colorado State University. Her primary academic interests are environmental social movements, and the interactions among scientists, conservationists, indigenous people, and policy makers.  She has worked as a field biologist in the Southwest and Intermountain West for seven seasons, as well as a socio-economic analyst for NEPA compliance and environmental justice assessments. Emily is originally from Los Alamos, New Mexico; and currently bikes, runs, skis, and resides in Durango, Colorado when not in the field. She is passionate about engaging in productive interdisciplinary discussion about environmental issues.
