Bruce Shields is an Academic Support Coordinator for students majoring in Economics in the College of Liberal Arts.
Before joining the Academic Support team, Bruce worked extensively with students as both an instructor in the English department at Colorado State University and as the Associate Director of Writing Center. He’s also worked as a Writing Center consultant, an instructor at Aims Community College and has had the privilege of participating with the Goodwill mentorship program, where he helped guide first generation students through their first year of college. Throughout his work, he has enjoyed fostering relationships with students by helping them achieve academically, and ultimately helping them realize their passions, develop their aspirations, and reach their goals.
A first generation student himself, Bruce received a BA and an MA in English from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas and then an MFA from Colorado State University.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, running, writing, and listening to podcasts about film, politics and pop culture.
