Biography

Ashley Moore is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. She received her B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Animal Science and a certificate in African Studies from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. Subsequently, she received her M.A. in Journalism from the The Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia where she specialized in radio broadcast. She is here at CSU pursuing her PhD in Public Communication and Technology wherein her research interests include critical examinations into the extent and various way in which biological and cultural narratives about race affect public conceptions and communication of race and, ultimately, affect society's ability to address social inequalities and injustices. Upon graduation, she aspires to teach how race is a technology – and not biology – to both employees and students, who are bound by racial categories and in need of a better understanding of race and its role in society, so that they can be set at liberty and become more sympathetic and helpful towards members of historically-disadvantaged racial groups.
