Sociology student, Stacia Sydoriak, successfully defends Master’s thesis

The CSU Sociology Department is pleased to announce that PhD student Stacia Sydoriak successfully defended her Master’s thesis, entitled: “Relative Deprivation, Globalization, and Reflexivity: A Cross-Community Comparative Analysis of Tourists as a Salient Reference Group in the Mexican Yucatan Peninsula” on Friday, Oct. 25. In her thesis, Stacia explores the influence of global tourism on perceptions of relative deprivation. Professor Lynn Hempel served as Stacia’s committee chair, and Laura Raynolds, Pete Taylor, and Marcela Velasco served as her additional committee members.
