Martin Carcasson Honored by PR Group

Department of Communication Studies professor Martin Carcasson has been named 2013-14 Communicator of the Year by the Colorado School Public Relations Association.
Carcasson will be honored at the COSPRA Annual Spring Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 2 at the Denver Botanic Gardens.
Carcasson is an associate professor in the Department of Communication Studies and founder and director of the Center for Public Deliberation. He trains students to serve as impartial facilitators who then work with local governments, school boards and community organizations to design, facilitate and report on public forums on important issues.

CPD, utilizing the skills of students trained by Carcasson and other faculty, has led community discussions on a number of topics, including senior issues and CSU’s proposed on-campus stadium.
“Professor Carcasson is a precious resource for parents and school administrators dealing with complex and sensitive issues,” said Stephanie Wurtz, director of Internal Communications for Colorado College. “His impact on effective engagement is growing.”
