Did you know that one student drops out of high school every 26 seconds in the U.S.? In Denver, Colorado, only 56% of students graduate from high school on time. Colorado also ranks 49th out of 50 states with the highest percent of teen drop outs. These numbers are highlyalarming. But thankfully,Denver Urban Scholarsis working to keep youth in school and to help them succeed!
Yesterday the students in SOC 205: Contemporary Race Ethnic Relations heard an extraordinary presentation fromKelly Scott, who is the Partnership Manager at Denver Urban Scholars, and fromSandra Carrillo, a sophomore majoring in Equine Sciences atColorado State Universitywho is a scholar in the program! Kelly and Sandra wowed the class with their smarts and their hearts for helping students with the greatest need find a way to succeed!
