In this interview, Dr. Peek, who has published widely on children and disasters, discusses recent initiatives aimed at reducing children’s vulnerability and strengthening their capacities to encourage more robust disaster preparedness, response, and recovery activities in communities in the U.S. and Australia. Dr. Peek offers several examples of times when children and youth have acted as a creative and energetic resource in post-disaster settings.
