Employment Opportunity: Openings for two Assistant Professors of Music History

The Department of Music, Theatre and Dance at Colorado State University invites applications and nominations for two positions of Assistant Professor of Music History. These are both entry-level positions. The successful candidates will be appointed untenured and at the rank of Assistant Professor. These are tenure-track, nine-month appointments, beginning August 16, 2013.

Required Qualifications
• PhD in musicology at time of appointment
• Evidence of successful teaching experience at the college level
• A promising record of scholarship/research
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively
• Commitment to continue professional development

Preferred Qualifications
We are interested in candidates whose interests could include ethnomusicology, music in popular culture or other innovative areas of research in musicology. The successful candidates will be enthusiastic teachers who show clear evidence of leading dynamic and engaged lectures and seminars at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

Responsibilities
Both positions will teach undergraduate and graduate course work in music history; conduct research and publish; participate actively in the profession; share in administrative responsibilities and participate in faculty governance; mentor graduate students and participate on graduate committees. Teaching responsibilities include five courses a year.

Salary will be commensurate with background and experience.
