Conference Presentations in 2013: Deborah Yalen

Dr. Deborah Yalen presented her research at two conferences in 2013. In February, at the international conference “Going to the People: Jews and the Ethnographic Impulse” (Indiana University), she delivered a paper entitled “After An-ski: I.M. Pul’ner and the Jewish Section of the State Museum of Ethnography in Leningrad, 1937-1941.” In August, at the annual meeting of the Pacific Coast Branch of the American Historical Association in Denver, CO, she presented a paper entitled “The So-Called ‘Jewish’ Shtetl: Bolshevik Ideology, Ethnic Identity and the Re-mapping of Soviet Space” for the panel “Cities in Change (1): Mapping, Mobilization and Minorities.”
