Communication Studies—From the Chair
I hope this newsletter finds you doing better than ever before in all aspects of your life. By the time you receive this, our 50th Anniversary Celebration will have taken place, and I hope to have seen you there.
To increase our contact with you, we’ve added two Facebook pages to the department’s social media: Colorado State University Com- munication Studies and Colorado State Univer- sity Communication Studies Alumni. They’re works in progress, and we hope you “Like” both of them, and let us know what content you’d like to see on them.
Our LinkedIn group: Communication Studies @ Colorado State University, continues to grow, and I invite you to join and use it for discussions and job postings. It’s a great way to stay in touch on the more professional side of social networking. And we have an M.A. alumni LinkedIn group as well.
And, as always, you can keep up at our website: http://communicationstudies.colostate. edu; look for the news link at the top.
The department has had a year of great change; please see the Department Highlights for the positive details. Unfortunately, several of our wonderful faculty left us for greener pastures elsewhere: Shelley Bradfield has gone to Central College in Pella, Iowa; Jon Lupo has moved to Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H.; Andy Merolla has returned to his under- graduate alma mater, Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio; and Lean Sprain has gone just down the road to the University of Colorado- Boulder. We’ll miss all of them and wish them the best.
My gratitude, as always, to our wonderful staff: Marian Hall, office manager; Dawn McCo- nkey, account tech; and Ella Bowers in the Col- lege Advising Office, who advises our freshman and sophomores. Thanks, as well, to Special Instructors Matt Dunn and Mark Saunders for doing additional advising.
My special thanks to all of you who contributed monetarily to the department this past year; your continuing support enables us to award nine scholarships a year, which help undergraduate and graduate students pay for their educations.
And, thank you to those of you who stay in touch. We love to hear what you’re doing and appreciate your thinking about us.
Best regards, Sue Pendell
