More than 80 people attended Ari Kelman’s excellent book talk on A Misplaced Massacre: Struggling over the Memory of Sand Creek on February 21st. Kelman, UC Davis Associate Professor of History, traced the history and controversy of the Sand Creek Massacre from 1864 to the present and reminded us that the present shapes our understanding of the past.
