Swiss music educator, Emile Jaques-Dalcroze (1865-1950), believed in movement as our “sixth sense.” This workshop will introduce you to Dalcroze Eurhythmics and through movement you will experience sound in an entirely new way. Come and learn kinesthetic games and activities that teach your students musical concepts such as beat, meter, rhythm, melodic contour, dynamics, articulation and phrasing. Dalcroze techniques will engage your students through perceptive listening, concentration, and musical problem-solving while enabling them to become more musically expressive. Workshop is designed for K-12 music teachers, applied music instructors, or anyone who teaches or performs music.

Mr. Fritz Anders teaches Eurhythmics for the JEFFCO School District and is the organist & choir director for St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Denver. He recently moved from Santa Fe, NM, where he taught music and dance – ballet & modern/Horton technique at Santa Fe High School. Mr. Anders received his graduate certification in Dalcroze Eurhythmics from the Juilliard School and has taught Eurhythmics throughout the west.

Dr. Bonnie Jacobi is a specialist in musical gesture and has presented sessions on gesture and Dalcroze in Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Texas. She has studied ballet for thirty-five years and performed as a member of the Austin Contemporary Ballet. Dr. Jacobi holds training from the Abramson-Dalcroze Institute at Juilliard and the Marta Sanchez International Dalcroze Institute at Carnegie-Mellon University. Presently, she teaches  in the Department of Music Education at Colorado State University.
