This duo represents a wonderful mixture of contemporary and traditional compositions for flute and percussion. Each of the artists brings an amazing amount of ability and expertise to their instrument, creating a very captivating and energetic performance.
Brook Schoenwald is the Principal Flutist of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. A dedicated chamber musicians and soloist, Schoenwald recently appeared as a soloist at the Peabody Conservatory and Japan’s Flute Convention and was invited to the Marlboro Festival and School where she spent the past summer rehearsing and performing. In 2009, Schoenwald was the first prizewinner of the National Flute Association’s Young Artist Competition. Mrs. Schoenwald received her Bachelor of Music from Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University and holds a Master of Music degree from Carnegie Mellon University.
Bulgarian-born Svet Stoyanov has captivated audiences internationally with his virtuosic technique both on the marimba and a wide variety of other percussion instruments. Winner of the 2003 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, as well as numerous other competition awards, he has garnered accolades from audiences and professionals throughout Europe and the United States for his dynamic concerto performances, his theatrical recital presentations and the elegance of his chamber music collaborations. Stoyanov earned his Bachelor’s degree from the Peabody Institute and master’s degree from Yale University
