The Monfort Professor in Residence Program at CSU presents: A Tribute to Black Pioneers in Music Performance with support from Bohemian Foundation. This special concert honors those who broke the color barriers in music and composition, paying tribute to singers such as Todd Duncan, Marian Anderson, George, Shirley, Grace Bumbry, Mattiwilda Dobbs, Leontyne Price, and Shirley Verrett, with performances by Metropolitan greats, Leona Mitchell, soprano and George Shirley, tenor; as well as sopranos, Louise Toppin and Lori Hicks; mezzo-soprano Lori Brown Mirabal; and baritone, Darnell Ishmel.
