Description: This course is concerned with non-fiction, fiction, and poetry focused on landscape, climate, animals, ecology, and place. Themes and approaches will vary according to the professor teaching the course, but students generally will read, analyze, discuss, and write about a wide range of literary representations of the human relationship with the non-human world, The course emphasizes how human cultures, attitudes, emotions, aesthetics, ethics, and imaginations interact with the actual physical and living planet.
